Kiev-Pechersk Lavra(Kiev Cave Monastery) is a unique monastery complex, which is included in UNESCO world heritage list. It was visited by more than 43 millions of tourists from all over the world.
St. Sofia Cathedral was founded by Grand Duke of Kiev Yaroslav Mudriy (Yaroslav the Wise) in 1037 and became the main church of Kievan Rus. Today Sofia complex is included in the UNESCO world-wide heritage list.
St. Vladimir Cathedral was built in commemoration of Prince Vladimir who in 998 introduced Christianity in ancient Rus. Cathedral is built in traditional for Russian architecture ancient Byzantine style. This was the style of ancient Russian churches in the times of Vladimir the Saint and Yaroslav the Wise. Cathedral interior was designed by such famous artists as Viktor Vasnetsov and Mikhail Vrubel.
St. Michael's cathedral was destroyed by the times of USSR in 1935 and anew built in 90th after Ukraine got it's independence. Inside cathedral there are unique mosaics and wall paintings which were taken out before cathedral devastation and kept safe in the museums of Moscow and St. Petersburg.
The legend says that once in the place were now Dnieper flows was the sea. But after St. Andrew came into Kiev and had put a cross on a hill were now St. Andrew Church stands, the sea went off and hide under the hill. St. Andrew Church has no bells cause according to the legend the water will arise and flood all Kiev with the first stroke of the bell.
St. Nicholas Cathedral is one of the most beautiful buildings of Kiev of the XX beginning of XX century deigned in formalized gothic style with high arrow-shaped spires.
Alexandr's roman-catholic cathedral was named after Tsar Alexandr I and is the oldest roman-catholic church of Kiev.
Vydubychi monastery it’s a monastery complex situated on the picturesque banks of Dnieper in the Vydubich tract.
Cyril Church was constructed as far back as the XII century, especially precious are extant in interior fragments of frescos.
Pokrovskiy convent was founded by Princess Alexandra Petrovna, the wife of tsar's Alexandr II brother — grand duke Nikolay Nikolaevich. She created the convent for poor woman who needed the asylum and wanted to devote oneself to God.
