| Taras Shevchenko monument | This monument was erected in a kind of bitter way. The ideas about honoring Taras Shevchenko who may be greatest poet of Ukraine was in the air from an early 1900th. Although people’s donations was collected from 1904 and the project was approved by the city council in 1909, but there was no real construction until 1939 – when it was considered useful for Soviet administration to made the canonical fighter against the Tsarism and for the labor people out of such a complex person as Taras Shevchenko. The monement was opened on the 6 of March in commemoration to 125 birthday anniversary of Taras Shevchenko in the park near Kiev University. The poet's figure was designed by sculptor manizer in bronze.
